Gifts by Wills or Living Trusts
You may be looking for a way to make a significant gift to help further our mission. A bequest is a gift made through your will or trust. It is one of the most popular and flexible ways you can impact the future at UCR.
Gifts of Stocks or Bonds
Donating appreciated securities, including stocks or bonds, is a simple and tax-effective way for you to make a gift to UCR.
Gifts of Real Estate
Gifts of appreciated real estate provide you with an immediate tax deduction and capital gains tax savings and can be made immediately or through your will or living trust. Consider also making a tax-deductible current gift of your home, while continuing to live in and enjoying it for your lifetime with a gift of retained life interest.
Gifts of Personal Property
Almost any form of property such as works of art, antiques, and other personal items, can be suitable gifts to the university. In many cases, the full appraised value of the property on the date of the gift will be credited to the university.
Gifts of Intellectual Property
Donate intellectual property such as copyrights, patents, royalties, licenses, and technical data. The tax and legal provisions that govern these gifts vary according to the type of property.
Gifts of Retirement Assets
Donate part or all of your unused retirement assets such as a gift from your IRA, 401(k), 403(b), pension, or other tax-deferred plan.
Gifts of Insurance
If you have a life insurance policy that has outlasted its original purpose, consider making a gift of your policy to UCR.
Foundation and Corporate Giving

What is better than a generous gift to UCR?
A gift that has been doubled or tripled thanks to a corporate matching gift!
Many companies offer a matching-gift benefit to their employees to inspire charitable giving in support of education. Sometimes the gifts of retirees, members of the board of directors, and spouses are also eligible.
Check to see if your company has a matching gift program or contact your Human Resources office or benefits manager and ask for a matching-gift application. If you are required to send the signed application to UCR, please send it to:
University of California
1136 Hinderaker Hall, Riverside, CA 92521
After your gift is verified by UCR, your employer will send an additional gift on your behalf!
Faculty and Staff Giving
UCR faculty and staff are among the most devoted members of the Highlander community. Each year, university employees demonstrate a remarkable dedication to our students, our mission, and to the community by making gifts that impact the future of their department, school, or favorite area on campus.
If you are a current UCR employee, you may enroll in UCR's Payroll Deduction program to make a UCR Foundation contribution from your paycheck and designate a campus department, program, or school to receive your gift. Once an employee enrolls to make a gift via payroll deduction, funds are automatically deducted from your paycheck and credited into the receiving account. Please note that your first deduction's timing may depend on the paycheck cycle. Or, if you would prefer to make a one-time gift to UCR, use this link.
Donor Advised Funds
Donor Advised Funds are the fastest-growing, tax-efficient way to manage charitable donations. As a qualified, tax-exempt organization, UC Riverside Foundation is able to accept your Donor Advised Fund gift and help you make a grant wherever the need is greatest, to a program that is meaningful to you, or simply aligned with one of the university's top priorities including student scholarships, research, graduate fellowships, and more.
Clients of Fidelity Charitable, Schwab Charitable, and BNY Mellon can easily make a designation. UC Riverside Foundation is a charitable organization under IRS tax code 501(c)(3).
